2021
This was a pretty empty year for digital art. My creativity/motivation was at an all time low for self fulfilling work as all my effort was going to trying for a career.
I drew this piece late 2020 for my boyfriend, but I put it in here because of the lag of academic years etc. I am so proud of this one. Even if there's parts which are less than, the whole piece was exhausting to do but so rewarding. This is inspired/referenced from a piece done by 'BestTableFork' who I contacted for permission since I chose to follow the composition really closely and would of felt shady if I didn't.
Persona 5 is a game so dear to me. Futaba Sakura is a character who means a lot to me especially. I wanted to do more scene drawings and tried to do this last year. I left it unfinished for 6 months and completed it early this year. There's some brilliant parts of this, such as the hotpot and the postcard idea with the little text alerts in the games style. Its saddening it got quite overlooked online with the games fan art community since an extreme amount of effort went into this while breaking my comfort zone completely.
Drawn October 2021 - I fell in love with the card art of Pokémon and the games (Sword and Shield) world. So I did a self insert full art trainer card. I am really proud of it as it also includes a bit more background.
I was part way through a short comic strip for my Lemon San series, never finished it though "We got monkey"
I can't explain this re-occurring character fully but vaguely, the longer her hair is, the worse she is doing.

July 2021: My 3rd year in a row of drawing Futaba Sakura, Its ok, think the colours aren't quite good but I was more trying for perspective which I think worked well!
Dec 2021 - A commission for a mutual friend's D&D vampire campaign. Thought the poses were great and that it was going really smoothly. They didn't want rendering though unfortunately.
In hindsight, this has eating disorder written all over it. It is what it is, a cute design and the such but damn, its obvious this ain't right haha.
TW/ Personal ED anecdote here; I had gained an astronomical amount of weight in a very short time due to a quite severe (and looking back, potentially dangerous) reaction to medication the year prior to this poster, of which one of the less dangerous side effects I experienced was thyroid dis-regulation. Once I had gotten so overweight from the med (about 25kg in about a month or so), I then gave up on myself because at the time, it wasn't making any difference if I ate or not or how much etc etc. I proceeded to eat all the foods I never allowed myself and restricted all the years prior. I gained 7kg more from my eating that following month or so. Covid hit and then I started mainly doing 2 day fasts, (1 and 3 as well depending), with a binge day in between, as well as "one meal a day's" when I got worse instead of the binges, for the next couple months left of my tennancy. Suffice to say this was not great, really messed up my metabolism more, gained another 5kg which was driving me mad at the time. I moved back home after this point in a-lot of physical pains, but my parents had built themselves a gym and with they're help I was working out, eating normally and that's about when this poster came to be. It would be 2024 that I finally got back to the weight I was before, since I was very careful with how I lost it..
Nov 2021 - I have really been thinking about making an Indie game but struggling to start with it. I just decided to draw something, anything as a character concept to at least get my first trash out. Don't like the colours but the character developed a lot from here! (see 2024)
Imagine a cropped version of just the coffee. Now imagine that having 200 likes while the actual piece has less then 10. I know not to care about likes but its moments like that which remind me the internet is a crippling place for artists.
Theres a project I have been wanting to do and this was a testing of waters to how I want to process it in my head. I doubt the project will ever be done but we will see. I have a love for rhythm games and I wanted to make my own, of which this character was one of the main ideas for it, think Persona 5 Dancing.
