I got a PC capable of 3D work and entered my first contest to finish a character for my portfolio and job hunting!
GOLDILOCKS PROJECT (ABOVE)
This project was a complete passion project. I loved making a lot of things within this and making my idea come to life felt amazing. I thought I did a brilliant job but when months passed when I gained no greater success in my job applications, I grew to feel I wasn't good enough as I thought I was. Whether I am or not good enough, my confidence was shot; this piece I was so proud of turned into something that made me sad and felt like a reminder that nothing is enough. After that point, reaching here July 2021, I came to a self understanding that I can't keep job hunting like this. It truly is only at expense of myself.
I had made a few animations (see below this for vids) months later with the characters and it made me incredibly happy and sparked my confidence back a little bit. So much so that it encouraged me in the decision half way through this year, just after moving out of my family home, to try learning unreal engine and making a small game. Whether I do or not is another matter, but I am trying something extremely different from character art, and may tone down job hunting a lot because of this exhaustion.

FLASH GORDON PROJECT (BELOW)
Given the momentum and success in completing Goldilocks, my first character since graduating, I entered another contest. I will never finish this and couldn't in time for the contest, partly due to moving and partly due to a lack of motivation as job hunting became more and more strenuous. I felt frustrated while making this character as my drive was fading. I do not like the result and do not wish to continue anymore (written as of July 2021).
Par the success of completing Goldilocks from a different contest, I entered another. This time, everything went wrong and I didn't account for moving out enough and couldn't finish it in time. Here is the thread of the entry: https://www.therookies.co/entries/13929
